Emily is a patient at an experimental psychiatric facility where a brain implant prototype forces her to relive her dreams. We follow her as she awakes in a lavish medical facility and begins her postop treatment with Dr. Fino. Fino has Emily describe three of her dreams in chilling detail, and we see her enter each of these respective realities with fear and curiosity. As we live through these dreams with her, we learn intimate details about her psyche as she relays this information to the doctor. As Emily downloads her most intimate thoughts to the unscrupulous Fino, the lines between conscious and subconscious are blurred, and it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish her dreams from reality, the hidden contours of her mind exposed to both the experimenter and audience. Emily’s subconscious experience culminates in a visual anxiety attack, wherein the pressure of knowing when she is awake versus when she is dreaming becomes too much to bear. Emily struggles to hold on to her sanity and her relationship with her boyfriend, Van, and she allows her mind to be watched and examined.
